LibraryIn 1930 the library of the university met its first readers. It was founded on the literature given by Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Kyiv Art Institute and Kyiv Engineering Institute. In 1942 the resources of the library were 75 741 volumes. Now they are 1 120 490 volumes. Library funds are multi branched. They are text-books, manuals, scientific and methodical literature, standards, informational and periodic publications, fictions. The considerable part of them is text-books, manuals and methodical works written by the instructors of the university (approximately 1 thousand titles). The honour of funds is rear and valuable books section which preserves 3 645 volumes in Russian, English, German, French and other languages. These are publications of XVIII – XX centuries. There are exchange resources. Annual stocking of library funds is 15-20 thousands units.Library comprises 13 sections and 16 sectors: educational literature subscription section, sections of scientific literature, information and bibliography, architectural and art literature, foreign languages literature, students reading hall for 300 places, instructors and post-graduate students reading hall, sector of standards, inter-library subscription section and etc. More than 15 000 readers use the library and nearly 30 000 readers are served by all its structural subdivisions. About 358 thousands readers visit the library every year and the annual number of books given to readers is up to 750 000 units. Library services are used by students, instructors, scientists, learners of Refreshment and Re-training Department, Preparatory Department for Foreign Students. Advanced forms and methods of work are being introduced, electronic catalogues are being formed, data bases of dissertations and synopsis of thesis, instructors’ works are being created.
